Introduction
This manual provides a comprehensive step-by-step guide to integrating a client’s SharePoint account into abela.io using Microsoft Azure. It includes instructions from account setup in Azure to granting admin consent and completing the connection within abela.io.
Step 1: Accessing Microsoft Azure
Microsoft Azure is a cloud platform used to manage application permissions and services like SharePoint Online.
Who can access Azure?
Only users with appropriate roles such as Global Administrator, Application Administrator or Cloud Application Administrator in a Microsoft 365 tenant can register applications and grant admin consent.
How to access Azure:
- Go to https://portal.azure.com
- Sign in using your Microsoft 365 admin account credentials
Step 2: abela.io - Create a SharePoint Office Client
1. Log into https://abela.io platform
2. Navigate to the Modules section and click Drive
3. Click Create Office Client
4. Enter a Client Name that will be the library name in SharePoint
5. Choose MS - SharePoint from the client type dropdown
6. Paste in the URL of the SharePoint site (explained in tooltip)
7. Click on Allow Permissions to connect to the SharePoint site
8. Login using the Azure account credentials
9. Click the Accept button at the next popup
10. Choose the preferred Vessel Clients and Shared Folders and click Save
11. The success message will be displayed and if you click the URL, then you will be redirected to the SharePoint library that was created
12. Now everything is ready and waiting for the changes to sync
Step 3: Outcome in SharePoint
1. After a few minutes you will see that the selected Vessel Clients and Shared Folders will appear as new folders in the SharePoint site
2. Then you can start uploading files to the folders in SharePoint and these files will sync back to abela.io
3. After a few minutes you will see this file has been sent to the Drive Folder in abela.io
4. You can also delete or update files and same logic will apply
5. Conversely, you can add, remove, or edit files from the abela Drive vessel client (considering that the required permissions are applied) and the changes will sync to the SharePoint site
NOTE: the SharePoint library syncs with abela Drive every 15 minutes, so there is a maximum delay of 15 minutes for every change to start syncing either to or from the SP library.
